About Lazada

Lazada Group is a prominent e-commerce company operating in Southeast Asia. It serves as one of the region's largest e-commerce platforms with a vast network of over 10,000 sellers and 50 million active buyers annually. Founded in 2012 by Maximilian Bittner and backed by Rocket Internet, Lazada initially operated as a marketplace selling its own inventory before transitioning to include third-party retailers on its platform. The company operates in six countries and has received significant investments from notable investors like Tesco and JPMorgan Chase. In 2016, Alibaba Group acquired a controlling stake in Lazada, facilitating its international expansion. Lazada is often compared to other regional e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Tokopedia, and Bukalapak.

My story with Lazada

Once upon a time, I embarked on an exciting chapter of my career at Lazada. As a Business Intelligence (BI) analyst, I played a crucial role in generating reports related to commercial and marketing activities. Although we initially relied on Microsoft Excel, our expanding business soon outgrew its capabilities. Determined to overcome this obstacle, I introduced automation using R scripts, which revolutionized our reporting processes. Eventually, we adopted QlikView and QlikSense, empowering us with enhanced scalability and automation.

During my tenure at Lazada, I accomplished remarkable feats and garnered invaluable experiences. A major highlight was my selection for the prestigious fast track management program. This year-long initiative aimed to accelerate employees towards leadership roles, and I embraced the opportunity to grow and excel. Additionally, we formed part of a dynamic team of four that participated in Lazada South East Asia's highly competitive product hackathon event, progressing to the semi-finals. It was an exhilarating experience that showcased our innovation and problem-solving skills.

At Lazada, my responsibilities spanned Business Intelligence, Fraud Prevention, and Tech Support. I delved deep into analyzing the company's daily revenue, margin, and profitability, providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making. Leveraging automation, I streamlined our reporting processes, reducing manual work and ensuring timely delivery of reports to business users. Adapting to various business needs, I performed ad-hoc data analyses and harnessed pattern detection techniques to bolster our risk management tool. Furthermore, I simulated proposed business changes, estimating their outcomes to inform decision-making. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, I spearheaded initiatives to drive improvement and efficiency throughout the organization. As a supervisor of the tech support staffs, I addressed platform-related issues and collaborated closely with business users and developers to gather requirements for Product Development enhancements.

My journey at Lazada was a transformative period of growth, innovation, and overcoming challenges. It allowed me to expand both professionally and personally, honing my skills and contributing to Lazada's success story. I am proud of the impact I made and the lasting relationships I formed during this remarkable chapter of my career.
